Do I need to have a business license to sell my crafts online?

I have some dolls, necklaces, and crochet blankets that I made on my own and I try to sell some during the yardsale season along with some other things around the house. Anyway, I want to see if I can sell them online, but I don't want to deal with places like Craig's list or ebay, or whatever... If I make my own webpage (like with tripod or someplace) and sell them through paypal, would I need a business license, or is it legal for me to sell my crafts without having one?
