To create a utopian state, should we do the following?

Create mive economies of scale, produce the most desired items or the most necessary so as to maximize utility and standard of living, provide less strenuous jobs which provide extra income for personal and luxery type goods, create more durable products and finally, faze out anything that does bleeds money, kind of like credit cards?? I feel that credit cards took the place of innovation. Therefore, instead of better cars being made, which would have lasted longer and cost us less, we pay even MORE for the same old technology at interest. What do you think??? A little philisophical economics.
