Double date was awkward ..please help :/?

so for valentines day this guy that i kind of like, asked me if i wanted to go on a date to dinner and a movie, i said yes and right when i was getting read he sent me a text telling me it was a double date. I really was unsure about the double date because i really just want to get to get to know him some more alone and have a romantic valentines day. Well , during the date it was really awkward, his friend had brought a stuck up girl and she was sooo annoying and my date seemed to be paying attention to his friends more and the stories they were telling each other i could NOT relate to so i just kind of laughed along with them. well my date secretly asked me what was wrong so i told him that im just irritated and that he wasn't even acknowledging i was there. well after, we went to the movies and it was fun but when he was driving me home we kind of talked about what happened and he didn't have much to say. i told him thank you and that i did have some fun but it was just awkward being put in the situation especially when we couldn't watch the movie they wanted to see because im only 16 and they are 18 :/ well i just need advice because it was an awkward goodbye at my doorstep and i called him to apologize but he told me it was okay and just text him in the morning but he sounded irritated. i think he thought i was ungrateful ? .
