Movie...can't remember name?

In 4th grade, I watched an old movie, I don't know what is is called but it is about a girl. When they are moving, the dad looks through stuff, and finds her mom's old soldier stuff. He then goes on to tell the story of her mom being a tomboy, There is one line I remember, creepy, no as in creepy, spooky. well, something like that. If you can please help me that would be great!
