What would you put in a "need to have" gift pkg for a student soon to go to NYU for 1st year college?

I have a friend whose daughter is going to NYU this fall (currently lives in Maryland). What little inexpensive "must-haves for NY or College" would you put in a small gift ($25-50 limit).
