Odd feeling about studying, any suggestions?

Don't know what it is about this book but I'm having a hard time; mainly law & finance & basic english & few vocabulary terms etc.. It's the way the book is approaching the reader, it'll take you forward & back without common grounds and puzzles me. Is there a specific way of improving reading comprehension?
